Pokemon Thread

I'm glad you like them. Most I just came up with, but I want to try and mix some Poke'mon too.


Should I host at ImageShack or Photobucket?

Ghost types! my 3rd favorite pokemon type.

Okay. Also, Greenape's mouth looks like Doduo's evolution.

Greenape was Mankey for the body, Voltorb eyes, and a Dodrio beak. The colors are from shiny Dodrio. Nobody gets a cookie.

And Skybubbles, if we were to make a fake region, we would need all original pokemon, not fusions of pre-existing pokemon. And we would need a whole forum to organize all the info needed to take on a project that big.

But I have tried the idea once. I tried making a map of the region, and I already have sketches of some legendaries to serve as mascots.

In fact... maybe that wouldn't be a bad idea for a forum...

I had some legendary mascot ideas aswell. One was Poison/Dragon, the other one was Dragon/Fighting I think, the Poison/Dragon represented humility and mercy(Amethyst), and the Dragon/Fighting represented Bravery and Glory(Opal). The latter was from a Chinese legend.

Steelidos is great, and Panloam nicely fills in the Ground-monkey niche.


Also, the PANDUH is epic.

Ugh... No offense to your idea, Blixa, as it sounds neat, but Game Freak is really over-complicating the idea of a "legendary" pokemon. They're just trying to juice up their stories by making their legendaries so epic that they're unrealistic. They're not suposed to represent anything; they're just there to look cool and make up part of the story, not change the world as you know it.

As such, I think legendaries need more connection to nature. Remember Kyogre and Groudon? They played an integral role in nature, supposedly making it rain and making the sun shine. That seems a little ludicrous, but acceptable. And then the Fourth Gen came along, and we have a new creation story to complement the Old Testament. Pokemon aren't gods. They're animals that can do cool stuff.

Sorry to rant so much... I just don't like what Game Freak is doing to legendaries.

My idea for legendaries were a fiery lava monster and a layered rock monster covered in thick armor, to represent different parts of the rock cycle: igneous and sedimentary. Naturally, Igneous and Sedimentary are the names of the new games. That means that when the third, improved version comes out, it's called Metamorphic and the mascot becomes a diamond-encrusted monster.

I agree that I don't like the god idea, however that is what game freak is doing so I just feel like I have to go along. :/ Anyway, I am way more annoyed by the humanization of Poke'mon (as mentioned earlier).

Poison legendary, hmmm, I can work with that.... as for the legendarys of pokemon they stopped being good after mewtwo... Mew was THE pokemon and MEWTWO was a science expirement, meh, pokemon that can't breed aren't worth the effort.

Oh yeah, because I got the mouth right, do I at least get a single Chocolate Chip?


Also, I'm trying spriting now... it's not as easy as it looks.

I am concerned about copyright issues, you sure this is fine? I am pretty sure it is as long as you don't use it for commercial stuff, but I'm not sure.

As long as you're not "altering any privately owned work, including visual media, for the purpose of revenue" then you should be fine. You're not selling your sprites or anything.

A poison type legendary does sound interesting, and if you could pair it up with a type that neutralizes its psychic-type weakness, it might find its way into the Uber tier. Unfortunately, poison only lands a supereffective hit on grass types.

In competitive pokemon, yes.

Anyway, I'm giving serious thought to making a forum based on making a new fan-made Pokemon region. If I did that, would any of you support me and help with it?

Heck yeah, We'll support you. I have a ton of ideas myself, but I cannot draw too much into sprite images.

It's okay, Ter, there will be plenty of places for people with no artistic skill.

I would help out if I could.

I dare everyone to make a custom sprite using pokemon Red/blue/green/yellow sprites, I can't even tell what some of them are!

As in, from scratch? I don't know if I could match that style of spriting.

What she means by custom is mixed sprites.

I'll support for sure, I've been making fake'mon ideas for awhile. Kitty and ter even helped me name one.
