| I think Garchomp is banned from OU. EDIT: for my team, I can't decide between Nidoking/Nodqueen and Toxicroak. They both are part poison and have advantages against my mainly used type's enemy, Steel (*coughaggroncoughcough*). They both have their advantages however, Toxicroak is a Poison/Fighting type, this gives it access to the ever powerful Focus Blast, this is boosted even further as it has especially high Spec. Atk for a Fighting-type. It also through Move Tutor can learn Gunk Shot, which, although not effective against Steel and Rock types, could be spurprisingly useful. Although Focus Blast and Gunk Shot have low accuracy, this could be booosted with Wide Lens (or whatever there called). However, with Rain Dance and the ability Dry Skin Life Orb could also be somewhat useful (although, it'd need a physical attack). The downside is that I couldn't train it at the moment because they only appear in Gen IV and V, and I can only play Gameboy Advance games on my DS at the moment. Nidoking/Nidoqueen are Ground-types and therefore can learn the move we all love, hate and yearn for=Earthquake. Along with earthquake, (despite not being a Fighting-type) it can learn Superpower while Toxicroak cannot. I'm sure Superpower+Bulk Up (and Earthquake of course) could cause some serious dents in Steel and Rock types. The Nidos also just flat out have higher stats than Toxicroak (of course, only by 5 points). Another cool thing is Dream World Nidokings/Nidoqueens also have the ability Sheer Force (for a second when I saw it I thought it was 'Pure Power'. Shame it isn't. ), Life Orb comes in again here. SmellingSalt, anyone? The downside to the Nidos is in the Ground-type moves, they don't effect Poke'mon that are Flying-types or have Levitate (Gliscar, Solrock and Lunatone worry me there, let alone Magnemite *shudder*). And, although they are super-effective against Steel, they do not have the Super-effectiveness against rock like Fighting. The Nidos also don't get STAB from Fighting-type moves like Toxicroak. EDIT: they also learn Megahorn at a fairly low level, although this wouldn't give much aid in Steel and Rock types, it'd be useful to dispatch Psychic-types.

| I'm not using Garchomp on any battle simulators, so I'm all good. Just for the Battle Subway. | |

Um. Magnemite has no levitate. Anyway, before suggesting a pokemon to you, I'd have to know your team. When you're stuck at a decision like that, it's best to see which area your team needs more support in. Is there a supporting pokemon that can activate Rain Dance for Toxicroak? Will any other pokemon benefit from rain? Do you have a pokemon that can lure electric type moves so that Nidoking can get a free switch-in? Overall, though, I would suggest Nidoking. Sheer Force is pretty awesome, but unfortunately, Earthquake doesn't benefit from it.

| Tentacruel would benefit from Rain, as it's a water-type, and so would Toxicroak, as mentioned before. However, this brings up a problem as Vileplume and Victreebel benefit from Sun (although, I plan to use Vileplume almost exclusively for Aromatherapy).
Tentacruel could lure in Electric-types.
I thought Toxicroak could learn Rain Dance...

| I've tricked out my team with a brand new fully-EV trained Garchomp, and I'm ready to take on anyone. If you want to meet me for a battle, I'd be more than happy to oblige. Just tell me when you'll be available. | |

| I just have to say this. I LOVE the TVs in Pokemon Black & White.
"Amazingly, the trainer Kitty has written mail this many times: 0! Wow, that's great, Kitty! Isn't mail just exciting?"
"A trainer nammed Kitty has used the move Splash 0 times! What's up with that, Kitty? Is Splash really that amusing?"
"Today, we honour a young trainer named Kitty, who has used the Day Care center an incredible 2 times! Fess up, Kitty! Do you have a crush on someone who works at the day care? Hmm?"

| Okay, so I've decided to actually make a team. Whoa. Anyways, while I haven't got sets for most of the team, I'd like some input on it (what team members should be replaced, what sets should they have). Anyways, the team has 2 main goals: set up either a Trick Room Reuniclus or a SABER Aron sweep. It's current members are: ReuniclusNear unstoppable when it's counters are gone. HeatranTo eliminate Scizor. I'm considering using a Magma Storm set to trap and eliminate switch-ins, but that might be a little gimmicky. A Stealth Rock set will give me hazards and be more reliable. -Something to counter Tyranitar-To counter Tyranitar. I'm thinking Gliscor or something. AronCan sweep teams reasonably easily with a SABER set. TyranitarTo provide Sandstorm for Aron and Pursuit to eliminate ghosts. Could also provide Stealth Rock if Heatran doesn't use it. EspeonUseful to bounce back Rocks, Taunts, and other moves. Since Female Eevee are obtainable from the Japanese Dream World, Wish support could also be provided. So that's it. Any comments or improvements? | |

| What's SABER stand for? I always thought it was called FEAR. Either way, Aron is a great choice if you can get sandstorm going. You're going to need to give it a priority move to take care of pokemon that are immune to sandstorm.
Also, for a Tyranitar counter, I would suggest Mienshao. If you can lure in a Rock Slide or Stone Edge somehow, Mienshao can survive a switch-in and OHKO with a Hi-Jump Kick.
Also, I would love if you could get me a female Eevee. My Vaporeon from the Dream World has a Special Defense-hindering nature. Ouch.
Also, where'd you get all those animated sprites?

SABER is where you use a Shell Bell and Sturdy to keep on using Endeavor, rather than relying on a Focus Sash. - Gelatino95 wrote:

Problem with Hi-Jump Kick is that it hurts you if it misses, basically killing your Mienshao. I may as well just use Focus Blast on my Reuniclus. - Gelatino95 wrote:

I haven't got a Female Eevee yet (I haven't seen them in the promotional area yet, but I haven't really been there much), but if I get one I'll breed it. - Gelatino95 wrote:

| I think HI-Jump kick is pretty reliable. 90 Accuracy isn't that bad. Even then, you can give your Mienshao a Scope Lens to up the accuracy.
I'm gonna post my complete Battle Subway team soon.

| Oh, great. The last thing the Cafe Forest spawned before it stopped spawning anything was an Eevee, the first I've seen...
It was Male.
So now I have to settle for my Female Poliwhirl...

| Here's my battle subway team, as promised: ~ Garchomp (item: Focus Sash) - Swords Dance - Outrage - Earthquake - Rock Slide I lead with this guy. Garchomp has an excellent defensive typing and respectable bulk, so he can often get a Swords Dance in to double his attack. After that, if the opponent's lead is weak to Earthquake or Rock Slide, then I use one of those. If not, I start my Outrage. Once he starts, Garchomp can OHKO pretty much everything, even Lucario, with Outrage. Sometimes, if I'm lucky, he plows through the entire team. But more often, he gets confused at the last one and I either switch out or try my luck at another move. His Focus Sash lest him survive an Ice Beam so he has enough time to Swords Dance and plow through whatever shot the Ice Beam at him. ~ Registeel (RegiSTALL) (item: Rocky Helmet) - Toxic - Curse - Protect - Brick Break This guy is my favorite Toxic staller. He can take a ton of hits before going down, even an Earthquake or two. That's why I give him a Rocky Helmet, as it adds some damage to the Toxic. Unfortunately, he doesn't work too well on Poison and Steel types, but that's what my next pokemon is for. Protect keeps him safe while stalling for Toxic. On every other turn, I use Curse to increase physical bulk whilst increasing the damage that Brick Break does. Brick Break is just there so I'm not Taunt bait, especially for Weavile. This guy is pretty much the best counter for Weavile, as Brick Break takes it out swiftly. ~ Volcarona (item: Fire Gem) - Quiver Dance - Heat Wave - Bug Buzz - Psychic My favorite Gen V pokemon. I trained this guy in my party for White from the Larvesta egg on route 18. Volcarona (nicknamed "Enfuego", Spanish for "on fire") isn't EV trained like Garchomp, but he gets the job done quite well. I'm hoping to use a Fire Gem, but I accidentally lost my last one and need to find another. Quiver Dance is just about the best stat-raising move in existence for special sweepers. It raises Volcarona's speed so it's faster than pretty much everything. Heat Wave and Bug Buzz are a very good offensive combination, and Psychic is there to get rid of aforementioned Poison types that Registall can't get rid of easily. ------- https://alac.forumotion.com/viewtopic.forum?t=989 | |
