| I've never really bothered with getting the perfect IVs for my pokemon. I never really understood how it was done. | |

| I couldn't give a hoot about it but in all fairness how does it even work to begin with? | |

| I've read up on it. It's complex, but doable, in my opinion. The easiest to do it on is Emerald; you need very good timing, but it's very consistent. The hardest is R/S, to the point that it's almost impossible even on an emulator with slowdown. FR/LG is apparently hard, too.
As for what you do... I'm not totally sure. For B/W, it involves the time the game is turned on and your DS's MAC Address, among other things. It's rather complex.

That is a very general question. Lots of pokemon excel in certain areas better than others, so there really is no "best" pokemon. Each pokemon also has its own drawbacks, so you have to decide how to deal with those drawbacks if you want to use it. If you name a pokemon for me, I can rate it competitively, but I can't just give you the best pokemon of all time. It doesn't work like that.

| Okay, I'll be more specific.
Which Pokemon would be good in a battle with dragon, psychic and flying Pokemon?

| Like, battling those pokemon, or having those pokemon on their team? Also, if you're thinking of some certain pokemon in particular, you might as well tell me what they are. | |

| @Frost: Well..there's no such thing as the unbeatable pokemon as like Gelo said every pokemon has strenghts and weakness's.
Last night I got a Dewgong by trading a pokemon that I already had. I think it's considerd a not so powerful pokemon (I honestly can't remember). It wasen't just any Dewgong, It had the Poke virus on it and these for move sets.
Sheer Cold Aqua Jet Aqua Ring Take down
There has got to be a better move for Dewgong then those. Suggetions? :/

| To be perfectly honest, Dewgong isn't particularly good. Those moves seem okay, though, if you're heart's set on using it. Not many people like OHKO moves like Sheer Cold, and they're banned competitively, but I have doubts it'll be used in a competitive environment. | |

I remember battling my X friend and he "Accidentally" used sheer cold.

| I'm thinking of getting rid of sheer cold and replace it with a better water move like surf or waterfall. I think using one hit ko moves is kinda cheating. | |

| I didn't say I believe you and I do agree with you. So it's adios to sheer cold and hello to replacement move. I haven't decided what move to teach it. Can anyone help me out here please? Thanks. ^^' | |

| I suggest Ice Beam. It gets STAB and some okay coverage with water. Speaking of water, get rid of Aqua Jet, replace with Surf. Also, you might want to get rid of Take Down for a better move, but I can't think of one at the moment. If your Dewgong has Hydration, then give it Rain Dance and Rest, as it will wake up right after resting when rain is in effect.
Truthfully, Dewgong is a pretty terrible pokemon. Its offensive stats are below average, and its defensive stats aren't that good either. There's really nothing it can do right. I personally love Dewgong' it's one of my favorite pokemon. It's just not that good in the competitive environment.

| Really? Dewgong is a bad Poke'mon in competitive? Wow, I would have never known. My Dewgong is probably my strongest Poke'mon, second only to my Empoleon (and possibly one of my Venusaurs). | |

| Well, just take a look at Dewgong's base stats:
HP - 90 Attack - 70 Defense - 80 Sp. Atk - 70 Sp. Def - 95 Speed - 70
Its defensive stats are actually somewhat good, but the only problem is that is has a bad defensive typing, with four weaknesses and only two resistances. Its offensive stats are just... bleah. Not abhorrent, but not good enough.

| Ouch with stats like that even a level 100 Magikarp stats wouldn't make a difference (or would it)? I think it's still a nice pokemon to have anyway. A shame it's not one for battling. :/ | |

| If you're planning on trying to reset every time you see Virizion, just to try and get a shiny one, you should forget it. There is exactly a one in 8,192 chance of finding a shiny, even Virizion. You'll be at it for days if you want to find a shiny one. So, that's not exactly something you can do. Probably just forget about it. Virizion's not even the best one in the quartet. | |
