Fifth Gen sweepers? There are surprisingly few good sweepers in Gen. V. All the sweepers Gelo listed have a crippling flaw somewhere, speed or weakness to Stealth Rock (With rocks up, Archeops only gets half the switch-ins before it becomes useless). Gen IV still has the best sweepers.

However, Gen. V brought us a different kind of offensive threat. Pokemon that boost their defensive stats to become a dangerous threat, rather than offensive stats.

Reuniclus: Trick Room sets sweep through offensive teams, Calm Mind defensive.

Conkeldurr/Scrafty: Bulk Up a few times, become hard to stop. Conkeldurr uses Drain Punch to keep it's health up, Scrafty uses Rest and Shed Skin.

Too bad Shed Skin is unreliable, otherwise Scrafty would be great. And that Dark typing, in my opinion, gives it more unfortunate weaknesses than beneficial resistances. Conkeldurr, however, is much better with fewer weaknesses and especially Mach Punch to override its poor speed. Drain Punch is good to keep it bulky, as you said.

Lark is going to the VGC with a Golurk, which I think is a bad idea.

Although, as I said I don't really care, is Galvantula useful for anything?


Also, if you were Japanese would you trade a Farfetch'd for a Joltik (any level)?

It's an okay using Compoundeyes Thunders, but that's about it. As for the Joltick offer, I own a Japanese Black, but I don't know if you need to catch it on a Japanese DS for the extra boosted experience and breeding shiny chance (which I assume you'll be using it for). I don't have a Japanese DS.

I think it's not worth it to try and breed a shiny from a Japanese pokemon. It may raise your odds four times, but even then, it's still a one in two thousand-something chance.

As for Galvantula, its stats are pretty mediocre so it definitely won't get a chance in OU, but it might be good in NU or UU. But as Ferrety said, Compoundeyes and Thunder would make a great combination. Also, if you can get one from the Dream World, set up some substitutes (maybe use Agility so you can set them up fast) until it gets below 1/3, then Bug Buzz. But that strategy is pretty risky.

Changing the subject, I really wish they gave Swampert Swift Swim instead of Damp. Swift Swim is oh so much more useful, and the only reason I choose to use Seismitoad instead.

Okay. Thanks. I'll remember that, Compoundeyes and Thunder. I mean, as I said before I don't care about they're stats all that much, I only care how they look. Still, this might come in handy.


EDIT: Shininess wasn't the only reason I wanted Joltik, I want one from early on, and I heard Fafetch'd is pretty rare so I thought someone might trade.

Here's a story:

I had a friend who beat the main story in Pokemon Leaf Green (Diamond and Pearl didn't exist back then, lol) and they caught a Zapdos, I however, wasn't even close to beating Fire Red. When we were playing, I brought a gameboy hook up.

Conversation:

"Wanna trade pokemon?" I asked.
"Okay, I guess..." They said.
I went to the union room (Or something, I forgot, lol.) and did... stuff.
So we were starting to trade pokemon, then they asked:

"What should we trade?"
I looked at their pokemon party and I saw Zapdos.

"How bout a beedrill for your Zapdos?" I said. I knew they never had a beedrill so I quickly added: "You never got Beedrill and I never got Zapdos, so it's a fair trade :3"

They actually traded it.

Trying to hide amusement I said "Thanks." Then we played Smash Brothers Melee, and I pwned them with Pichu.

Thinking about it still makes me laugh how I traded a Beedrill for a Zapdos and how my friend was easily tricked.

In competitive pokemon, it's exactly the other way around. You don't care about pokemon's looks, but rather their base stats. But I suppose if you're not going competitive, you're fine.

On a separate note, anybody know a good moveset for a Conkeldurr? I'm planning on having a Scizor pass him a few Agility boosts to make up for his lousy speed, so he needs no stat boosting moves. Just a good set of moves for good coverage.

I have a basic set that I'm thinking of for my Conkeldurr:

Drain Punch
Superpower
Stone Edge
Earthquake

However, I'd like to replace either Drain Punch or Superpower with Acrobatics for better type coverage. Should I replace Drain Punch and sacrifice a healing move, replace Superpower and go with Drain Punch as my main STAB move, or just decide to go with less type coverage?

Mudkip is good. Also, Gelo I rate them COMPLETELY about how they look. Now that I think about it I should have have had cute and awesomeness levels.

But yes, it was mostly cute.
