Hey, would anyone be interested in a ship-building contest? It seems like a logical thing to do on a thread like this. I'm thinking of something along the lines of a template challenge, but I'm all ears if anyone's got ideas.

That's what I was thinking of. I believe camel meant "I would" as in "if I were you".

As for the number of templates, I might do three if I can manage it without them all looking exactly the same. We'll see.

All have exactly two dots on the complexity meter. I plan to colour code certain parts of each one that should stay as they are.

If anyone doesn't know how to use drag 'n' drop png's, tell me, 'cos I don't intend to upload templates to my profile solely for this.

My thoughts on the templates: I like the first one the most. It seems like the most general design for a spaceship. The second one is a bit too spiky for my liking, but with a little color and added parts, it could be epic. As for the third one, it seems a bit... unique. I would imagine having a hard time making something out of it, but I'm sure it could yield some interesting results.

As for me, I don't know if I will have a working Spore computer in time for this contest. If I don't get to participate, then I wish you luck in advance with a good contest. I personally can barely wait to see what people come up with.

Hehe, I did kinda put them in order of difficulty on that pic. Should be interesting to see what people come up with when I launch this.

@Camel: Interesting use of the jet-setter part, though personally I'd change some of the textures. Also, I like the jet stream parts on the back, but I wonder if they'd make the whole thing look more sleek if they were morphed to their maximum length.

I'm gonna kick-ass in this contest. I'm show gonna you all how to create a space craft...
