Maxis's template challanges

first of all, i think they shuld have told us that our winning stuff was going to be in darkspore, (what if people didn't want that?) and the templates were so BAD! so what do you all think of that, and the new one?

The templates we're bad, but we maked them good! Anyway, I don't think there's problem however, they should had asked for permission! That's how true gentle peolpe do...

BTW, They made a new challenge now, The "Raktha Template Challenge".
However, This one is special.. You make a tmeplate, and not a creature based on a template!

yeah, the templates were really bland

i kinda like the new one, but it's a little.... hard, and not it's not on skill at all! you don't win if your creation is awesome, you win if it's NPC compatable! if it's amazing but not NPC-able, they'll not let you win

I made a Raktha. It has some cell parts in it. I thought it would look different enough to at least get noticed with them included in the design. My Raktha

I think that the templates were not that terrible... after all, a template can't really be judged because it's just a canvas for the creator to start their work of art with. But I agree that they should have told us about where our entries were going, so we could know what to make them like. (I worked a long time on a very intricate paint job for my Triocular Scorpiod, only to realize that it would not work well in Darkspore!)

Well, I think this new contest opens up some new potential. People will be much more motivated to build something for this contest now that involvement with Darkspore has been confirmed. And now people will be able to make their own templates. I doubt this will change anything from the previous contests, but people think it's cool, so it probably will be from their perspective. And that, I suppose, is all that matters to them.

yeah, i guess it adds an new level of creativity.
