For all the players like me who never use their redstone. :V
So why is there a new ore then?

My guess is that they are rubies.

Yeah, they're probably rubies or some made up ore that you can make coins from. Im kinda sad it isn't based on gold, so hopefully gold is at least worth a decent amount. I hope redstone sells well too, its pretty useless to me

Well, as of lately I've been playing a few maps made by an individual you might have heard of: Vechs. He's the creator of the longest thread in the "Maps" section of the Minecraft Forums, that thread encompassing his series "Super Hostile". Now, if you've ever looked at the "Maps" section, or if you look at it regularly, you've probably seen this thread. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/191908-ctmcollection-vechs-super-hostile-series/
The maps he makes are of the CTM genre (Complete the Monument), and they are all very well made, as well as distinctly challenging, which is where the term "Super Hostile" comes from. Currently, I'm working on completing "Sunburn Islands", his 9th SH map and also a good starting point for beginners to the series. I highly suggest you check it out, as it is a very fun map with a unique play style.

First to post about 12w21a!
I think it's neat that they added emeralds, even though the ore color is messed up. It gave them a new purpose for a new ore. The trading system seems to be a bit messed up though. As in, to get one diamond it costs only around 1 emerald, and 16 chicken equal one emerald.
Enderchests are pretty awesome, and I like that they made it difficult(ish) to make, so that it's at least somewhat of a challenge.
The new villages are a really good idea, it livens up the game and adds a lot of possibilities for the future.
And finally, (excluding minor updates) Pyraminds are pretty awesome. It also livens up the game and adds cool new features. The chest place underneath is a pretty awesome idea too, I love seeing redstone traps integrated into natural structures.
That's my take on things.

The new menu might just be the best update in 1.3 besides Mod API/Server stuff.
EDIT: Though it's a bit hard to decide, emeralds and enderchests are pretty sweet too. Pyramids are cool, but I have to say not my absolute favorite. Good work Mojang!

So. 12w22a.
Personally, I'm no more than intrigued with this one. I use enchantments casually, (I've got a set in my main survival world that has a max enchantment value of 30) so these updates to enchanting aren't really all that exciting. Trading has also been updated, something I find interesting, though I doubt I'll use much other than in the flood of RPG maps with trading that are sure to be coming. Same goes for emeralds and emerald blocks, though I don't know why Jeb is making them so rare and not upping the value.
The two main things I'm interested in are the tripwires and the new gamemode. Someone made a joke on the Super Hostile thread earlier this week about tripwires being used alongside bedrock fog. At the time, it was funny, however the more that I thought about it, the more this prospect terrifies me. Then there's the new gamemode. Specifically the "adventure" gamemode. It disallows you from destroying or placing blocks, while you can still interact with doors and levers. I'm not sure this is going to get used as much as Mojang hopes it will be. Out of the adventure maps I've played, several of them have required you to destroy or place at least a couple blocks in order to win. Perhaps this will turn into signs telling you to switch to gamemode 2 in certain areas. Who knows.

I personally am loving this snapshot. Right now experience gain is epic, but fairly broken. I think that with the ability to gain experience from smelting and mining as well, the maximum enchant should remain at 50 instead. Either that or XP gain from mining needs to be nerfed. Im at 97 in my world right now, and all but 4-6 levels of it is from mining coal . I also love the jungle shrines, even if the piston puzzle can easily be solved with a pickaxe :3

This is a very early prototype of a village that will be part of an adventure map i've been working on. Several buildings are still missing and I haven't decided if this is even the design I want to go with (Though it'll probably stay at least similar to this). Any feedback you could give would be greatly appreciated

It looks good, but the cobblestone roofs class rather horribly with the stone brick and wood designs the houses have. I'd try and experiment with different block types, because it looks kind of weird and out of place.
Other than that, it looks pretty good. I'd definitely play it.

Thanks Yeah, the cobble roofs do look a bit odd...they seem to look better in game than in that picture. I may change them down the road

Magic. (Another good question to ask would be "How do those stairs have moss on them?" :P ) Thanks!
