How to Survive a Spam Attack

We had a mini-spam attack earlier so I though I'd share some guidelines on what to do next time.

1) Ignore ALL their posts

- First and foremost, if you identify a spammer, don't click on the threads he's posted in. A lot of spammers like to post some... less than appealing images. So for your own sake, don't even look.

2) NEVER respond to a spammer/troll

- Spammers and trolls are not here for intelligent conversation, so just don't bother trying to argue with them. If they come into the chatroom, pretend they're not there. If they message you, delete it. Simple as that. Trying to fight with one will only make you look bad in the end.

3) If anything, just report the posts

- Silently report a spammer's offensive posts. Don't bother posting something like "Haha, reported you!" because that will only fan the flames. Leave things to the mods and admins.

This is basically the point we've been trying to get across to the whole forum. As my replacement mod, I sure am glad you understand it. I hope people pay attention to these tips in the future.

DO NOT argue with trolls. Arguing with trolls mean they win!

Simply because they are there for flaming not for exchanging ideas...

That's debatable.

And I expect absolutely everyone to follow these guidelines in the event of another attack. Not to sound ominous, but I will consider consequences for those that don't.

What feeds troll's is making a big fuss about it. Making rules about this is perfect for this fourm.
