A small modification to chatbox!

Hi ppl!

I have an idea! It has came to my notice that sometimes chat window starts lagging due to the large number of IMs posted on it. And this seems to be a problem when all available chat mods are afk.

So, I thought...
Can we make the chat window clear itself after certain # of messages? Also after clearance it can repost the LAST message since people would probably miss it?

Or can we instead have a function like /clear that can only be used by anyone after a certain number of messages are posted?

I believe the chatbox is prepared in JavaScript and anyone with little programming knowledge can modify it.

I can give it a shot if the mods or admins send me the source code for it (or the link for the chatbox component)

So what do you people think?

I don't think that you can edit it with code and stuff. I think you can only make modifications that Forumotion supports.

Also, sometimes people like to cut and paste stuff into the chatbox thread, and that would suck if a funny conversation got automatically deleted. Human element is helpful in this case.

We could still use a delete comment... I don't think any php site would mind it, since chatbox is probably a component (or a class?) of its own. Anyways...

He's fine, he waited a day.

Actually Nevermore, it does clear after a certian of messages. Some people may not be so observant to see that, but after awhile it takes away the messages at the top. Of course, after awhile the chat discussion disappears and it ends up in the Archives.

The Chatbox can only be changed in look. Admins can go into the control panel and change colors section, and edit the CSS Stylesheet.

Forumotion does not support the chatbox beyond appearance and those functions currently built-in. This does not include auto clearing.

If you say so, but I'm pretty sure that chatbox ITSELF could have something like (Java, anyone?):

but I will not insist if no one finds a change necessary It was just an idea
