Just curious on how long the sig should take.

i made this last night, just... cause. so um... could you give me some critique on it? and please realize, i TRIED to download a good few brush sets, but most disappeared after i used them and closed photoshop.

@ Camel: That's pretty good: The theme and colour scheme match the render very nicely! The first thing I'd change would be to remove some of the gray fog from the render area so we can see more of it, perhaps with a large, soft eraser brush. You might also like to darken the less important edges (eg: bottom left) and add a light source somewhere on the right (maybe just a soft white 100px brush) to make it clearer where the focus of the sig should be. :

The font choice is great, but maybe you could play with the blending to make it more interesting- I often set the text layer to 'overlay' and maybe clone the layer once or twice to make it show up better. But that's just me.

If you're interested, take a look at some of these tutorials- I found them very useful. ^_^


EDIT: Also, about your brush problem: Are the actual brush files gone from your computer, or just not appearing? Take a look for 'em. :P I'm not sure I can help you- access is a little limited here- but there's my suggestion, such as it is.

I have a new small request: one that has nothing to do with Spore.
I have a 'tribe' in this game called Tribal Wars, and we need a Coat of Arms, so I though I'd ask you to label it for us:

Color: It should-be war like, so dark colors would be good... but if they impede on the text or actual picture, just pick one that is war-themed.

I'm not sure what else to put, but that should be all you need... hopefully.

@Camel: Good to see you've got your brushes working ok, I think I liked the last one more though. Perhaps you should consider sticking to one or maybe two colours in a sig, and alternative blending on the brushes.

I think this one is better than your previous few, mostly because you didn't fade out the central part of the picture (in this case, the creature) and you used more varied colors. Keep up the good work! :Wink:

It's good... but not good at the same time. While the creature and the cloudy effects are cool, it's too blurry. You need the creature to stand out, since it's the main point of the picture. And it's so blurred, I can't even read what it says! Definitely work on not going too crazy with the effects.

On your last sig: I say go as crazy as you like with the effects, the colour is great, just don't let them get in the way of the render or text. :P

One thing I might do to solve that is to ctrl + click on the portrait of the render layer (to select the area it covers), then select the layer with those blurry effects and use a 100px soft eraser to remove it from most of the render area (I often leave some at the bottom). :

Also I'll need some more detail about the size of the second sig: Do you want it to be half the height, half the width, or both?
