I followed your tips.. And decided to make a spaceship! I'm not done yet.. But tell me what i can change so far!

I had to re-read the last two hours of posts to try and find any sense in them. 0.o Can a guy leave to play Alien Swarm for a little while without drama erupting?

No biggie though, back to the ships: Lookin' good so far Glass, the lower wings will be great if you put a few more wing/detail parts onto them- try out that jet-setter trick and keep building outwards 'till you're satisfied or just plain sick of angling them. On the subject, I'm not so sure about the upper wings- mebbe replace the single jet-setter with something more intricate, there should be room in the complexity meter.


On the off-chance: Razo, I like the second one down the best- it looks very sleek and the wings, though small, work well. As I say a lot of the time: Put moar parts on teh wings foar awesome!!!11 As for the other two, I'm not certain the cyan details quite match the maroon textures on the body, and perhaps the bomber could do with a more aerodynamic shape. Overall, great effort.

Took about half an hour using some tips from the GAC.

Well I'm not sure about the paint-job, it could maybe do with something a bit more techie, but I really like the engine arrangement and you've got a good thing going with the overall structure. As far as the wings are concerned (I know, I put a lot of emphasis on them) the part you've used is cool and works with the flow, but there's plenty of room in the complexity meter to add more parts to it, to make them bigger and more intricate. Air Sharks and Jet-setters are my personal favorites.

Uses almost the same paint job as the other one, but I think it worked better.

@Byball: I agree, the paint works much better on the larger ship, I like how you made the bridge.

@Camel: The style and shape are great, and your texture choices are really nice too. If I were to suggest any changes, I'd say remove the blue details from the wings (stick to the orange :P) and possibly add a bicycle seat part or two to the wingtips something like this:

Aha, but all three of these things are happening, are they not? Doing critiques is a good way to keep the thread alive, otherwise there's not as much incentive to post. If you don't ask for crit, I'll leave you alone, I promise.

i have a tip.... for a small adjustment that can smooth edges. so those parts in deatails that are identical to the body parts? well, they is attached to the BOTMOM of a wing, then pivoted UPWARD, they come out ot the top of the wing with no seam. just a leetle tip. :

Hey Delta, what's your critique on this:

first time I used your tips, and it has a only a day after it's release!

Both those ships are great camel, but you could've darkened the blue on the first one's cockpits. Astounding work!

Your ships are very good, camel! They match perfectly! The only thing is that you need to remember that cockpits do not need to be painted a flat color. They should be slightly different from the other red or blue parts. I would suggest using a shiny metal texture. Also, especially on flat ships, it sometimes looks better if you use window parts to make the cockpit more interesting.

But that's just my opinion. And even I won't deny that my ship building skills are far below average.

@Terwynd: I can see you're getting the idea with your structuring, I'm not completely sure why the paint-job works, but it really does. I'd suggest that when you build the body, you aim to make it narrower for sleekness (unless you're aiming for a bulky design), and have the wings built out from it, rather than piled on top.

@Camel: I love the style you've got going there, the paint is excellent and the structures look robust yet sleek. Now if this were me, I'd be building wings out from the sides of your current ones like a shot, except for a couple of things: First, the weapon parts take up more complexity than you might think, they look cool and I can't argue with how you've placed them, but keep that in mind if you're ever trying to cut down the complexity.
Second, there's no room on the stage to build out from. If you're basing the scale of your ship around the cockpit size, I'd sooner go with a small one rather than a large one- that's why long ago I started using detail parts rather than body parts to make my cockpits. It simply gives me more room to work with.

Oh, one more thing: This is the texture I use for all of my cockpits:



It's a two-colour texture, so just make both colours the same.

BTW Delta, could you give some pics of good Textures i can use? That would be great!
