Sentain IC - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Sentain IC   Sentain IC - Page 3 EmptyTue Dec 17, 2013 9:11 am

Krista gasped as the Captain's swords sliced through her abdomen, drawing fresh blood over the dried-up blood of the Regnant creatures. She put her hands to the wounds to stifle the bleeding, but with three long gashes, she was not succeeding. The attack had left her unable to continue fighting with any vigour, and unless she did something about the wounds, she would not make it back to Sentain conscious. She considered healing, but the Captain and her mech were still at large.

Aulair was at her defence, however. Striking at the mech's shields, he opened both it and its pilot to attack. Krista did not know how far the traitor was from death, so she opted not to gamble by attacking her. She drew a pistol from her hip with a bloody grip and aimed it as square as she could at the mech's exposed core. She noticed that the green diode on the new barrel was glowing. Steeling herself to steady her aim, she shot the core. The green tracer bullet veered to the right but still landed in its target, triggering a chain reaction that would ultimately lead to a spectacular explosion.

But it didn't explode. The leech bullet was drawing energy out of the machine, thus stifling the release of energy that would normally tear the mech apart. The mech shook, and parts of it burst under extreme pressures, but it remained mostly intact. Malus's whips shook from the vibrations but otherwise didn't effect him. Once the leech bullet had drawn enough energy, it released it in a burst of green orbs like a magnificent firework that all curved back towards Krista's weapon. The orbs rushed into the top barrel in single file, before the collective energy was released into Krista, healing her wounds.

    And then the mech exploded.

Krista destroys the mech and heals one tag.
    Total damage: 1
    (Krista 2/3 HP : 2/4 LP)

It wasn't the explosion it could have been, but the Captain's humanoid vessel was torn asunder with a violent shockwave. The majority of its bulk remained tethered to Malus, preventing them from going very far. Collecting the remaining pieces would be far easier, but that wasn't on Krista's mind. She was focused on the Captain of the vessel she had destroyed and the swords still streaked with Krista's blood that she held. While her attention was still on Aulair, she rushed over to the Captain and grabbed onto her wings, and then dug her heels into her back to stop her from moving them. Safe from any attempt of the Captain to attack her again, she began to chant another spell.

"Erstellen Sie ein Band, um die Hände und Flügel zurückzuhalten." She whispered, as a glowing band of golden light materialised around the Captain's right wrist. It began to stretch like a rubber band and twisted itself into a helix to keep her hand restrained. The other end slipped over her other hand and trapped it in its coils, but continued to twist away. It curved around her back and similarly trapped the end of each of her wings, before looping back around and fitting over her right hand, completing the loop. Krista kicked off as the band contracted, effectively binding the Captain's hands and wings to her torso. Uncomfortable as it looked, it left the traitor unable to move her arms or flap her wings.

"Try getting it back now." She taunted as she turned the Captain around and took the swords from her helpless grip.

Berserk!Malus was still attached to the mech as it has hit, he witnessed parts shattering off it's main power source located in the chest of the armor suit. Normally he would've taken notice of the sudden additional debris, but something else had taken over his mind. The captain had ditched her body armor. The body armor he had taken liberty to attach himself to. This frustrated him greatly. How dare she run away? Malus didn't care if she was an angel or not, the fact that she thought she could rid of him so easily just rubbed him the wrong way. He glared at the rogue angel, and noticed that Krista had bound her wing and arms to her body. Her body which wasn't wearing the armor he had spent effort in getting hold of. Malus suddenly became overcome with a need to change that.

He used his halo to force himself higher than where he was situated. He needed momentum. His flails were still attached to what was left of the suit, and this thing was heavy. He drifted upwards for a moment then, in a sudden flash of energy, grabbed the suit with his hands and launched himself at the captain. He raised his arms, and gave a bellowing shout using whatever mouth movements he could manage.

    "GHHGGETT BAACKCK IN HERREERE!!"

Malus drew close to the captain and jammed the bottom of the chest armor over her head. Malus then forcefully banged on the mech's shoulder with his fist, trying to force the vest on more. When the suit wouldn't go down, he kicked it's side, leaving a sharp pain the captain's arm. The captain could only react through kicking, which lead to no avail as the suit was forced back onto her. By the time he got the suit back on her, she had been effectively knocked out by the continuous abuse. Turns out her armor wasn't all that protective after it had exploded.

Trapped in her own armor suit, kicking and struggling, the Captain was unable to move anywhere, and eventually passed out from shock. Malus noticed a shiny little cape was snagged onto one of his tendrils. Glowing a subtle cyan, it gleamed with soul energy, ripe for the taking.

    -------------
Battle 2 ENDS, Tour 1 is now over.
    -------------

    (Malus, choose your +1 Stat)

So that's it. The Captain is captured, the Regnants have quit chasing them, and they all were near the Domain Gate with the Saintification device secure. The mission was a complete success.

"Well, I guess that's that. Now to get back to the Gate and bring it all home." Aulair sighed in relief.

Cosmac started to fiddle with his wounds, specifically the laser burns on his shoulder. He never noticed wounds until after a fight was over, which is probably for the better.

"Agh, this wound's starting to tingle," Cosmac complained as usual. "I hate getting shot like that. Their shots cauterize themselves and makes it hard to ignore."

Krista shot Malus a dry look through half-closed eyes.
"Vas zat necessary?! I had her in bonds, don't vaste my energy!" She was unsure if the raging beast could even hear her, let alone understand her vexation. Perhaps it was a good thing that he didn't know what she was saying.
"And be careful! Ve are supposed to capture her, not kill her, you dumb beast!"

"Well, I guess that's that." Aulair sighed. "Now to get back to the Gate and bring it all home."

"Yes, let's." Krista reaffirmed bitterly as the Gate drew near. All this nonsense for a sphere. Nearly getting killed — succeeding for some — and bloodying up their apparel hardly seemed worth it.
"I svear, zat Saintification device had better be vorth ze suffering ve all vent through today. Three of us died again, but I don't know how you-" she looked at Malus "-managed to revive yourself."

"Agh, this wound's starting to tingle," Cosmac complained, fidgeting with his injury. "I hate getting shot like that. Their shots cauterize themselves and makes it hard to ignore."

"Zen you should stop picking at it," Krista advised, drawing near to Cosmac, "or you vill leave a scar behind. Move your hands."
Her hands took on a bright white glow as she laid them on Cosmac's shoulder, and began to heal them. She slapped Cosmac's hand away as he tried to fidget with the cauterised area.
"Thank you," she said quietly, "for keeping me safe vile I revived our leader."

Malus glared at Krista and started growling. His body was somewhat glowing with a faint white light. He grabbed the handle of the whip bound to his chest, and attempted to pull it off. His flails started to shrink and recede into his back, his armor began to melt off his body and reform his shield, and his horns slowly shrunk back to their original state. As he continued to force his whip off his chest, his teeth began to reform as he attempted to respond to Kirsta's questions.

"AHKDRGH, WGHEAHHT D'ORIRID WYoDud GrEXEcfft 'tfmee to do, lass? This bloody rozzer wouldn't keep her bloody armor on. I bet'y wouldn't call me a 'dumb beast' if I didn't stop'er from blasting everyone again." Malus bleated, finally pulling his whip off. He winced as he yanked it out. "...'sides, I'can think of many places where I'd like to see a woman strip'er armor off, but a bloody battlefield aint one'o them..." he muttered, securing his whip back to his thigh.

He felt something loosely draped over his back, and remembered the cape he found as he knocked out the captain. He eyed it with discontent. "Beh, this aint my colour. Here's hoping that it'll at least keep m'alive longer, somehow." He chuffed.

"Every bit of armor counts, I guess." Cosmac replied, breifly glancing at the cape. The gigantic battleship was nowhere to be seen, so it seems that, for now, the group had escaped the Regnant forces.

The group arrived back at the space station in a worse condition than when they left — fewer in number, scarred, burned, battered and bloodied — but had otherwise succeeded in their task; they had the Saintification device. Within the safety of the massive spherical structure they returned the pressure stabilisers they had been issued before the mission and proceeded to the Domain Gate that would lead back to Paradisa.

At least, if it were not barricaded by a blockade of armed guards.

As Aulair led the group towards the portal, the guards glided in front of him and stopped them.
"I'm sorry," said one, "but the Domain Gates have been sealed by order of Aegius. Nobody is allowed through."

Aulair stared at the guard for a while, before glancing at Cosmac, who didn't care to notify him about the blockade.
"Well, alright, I guess. Cosmac, if that's the case, we'll just stay in the bunkhouses. Staine's package can wait."

The guards' eyes widened and they looked at each other as if one would have the answer to the dilemma. After a while, it seemed that it was the one who spoke earlier.

"My apologies, sir. Please give my regards to the General. Ensure they get there as soon as possible!" With that, they parted, letting the group through.

Once again, the group passed through the constricting cross-dimensional highway of the Domain Portal. The angels all felt its otherworldly sensation forced onto them, stripping them of their ability to fly on their own and hurling them along one of its many lines of traffic.

And then they were out, and they suddenly felt gravity grab hold of them and try to pull them down to the ground. Once again they had to use their wings to keep them from falling to an untimely extra death. Their blood began pumping down to their feet and their stomach contents settled.

But they did not have much time to enjoy the serenity. A small platoon of guards approached the angels in a triangular formation and stopped mere feet from them. The guard at the head of the formation spoke.
"We have been informed that you are making a delivery for the General. As such, we have been sent to escort you. Please follow us."

"I'm flattered that you're escorting us, but we aren't really delivering anything important."
    That's when Cosmac interrupted.
"Of course it's worthless to you, oh humble Tride. We'll see what the General says about that." Cosmac apparently liked the platoon's company enough to BS the whole situation. "Here. I can go drop this prisoner off while you talk to Staine." He continued, flying off with the female captain.

The guards weren't ones for letting the angels take any detours. They were nearly led by the noses to the gate that led to Domain 4, Sacreda Senta. If going through a Domain Gate twice in one day wasn't enough for the angels, a third time would probably do the trick. But as they finally emerged from the inter-dimensional tube into the new Domain, they were given a sight they had not yet seen or imagined.

Domain 4 seemed like a desert at first, with the majority of its terrain near completely flat, and made of hard, light brown stone. The uniform flatness seemed to dissolve into hills and valleys in the distance, bringing the horizon closer. The entire landscape was scattered with angelic architecture, but none so ornate as that in Paradisa. They seemed to be sculpted from the same stone as the ground, with a dull cyan stone used as the only means of decoration. What they lacked in detail they made up for in size; the buildings were far taller than the houses in Paradisa. As the group was led towards what seemed to be the center of a military stronghold, they began to notice that buildings were becoming steadily more damaged. By the time they reached the center, the buildings were all but demolished, with surviving buildings marred with gigantic claw marks. At the very center of the destruction, was General Staine, surrounded by a platoon of high-ranked Winghunters. Contrasting the situation, they were all cheering and multiple words of congratulation were being exchanged. The escort group had just interrupted it all, with the leader shouting at Staine.

"My General! I come with a package from your Tride!" He was referring to Aulair.

Staine continued smiling, and briefly nodded at Aulair before leisurely hovering toward him in flight, exposing his elongated wings. Staine's stature was around the same as Aulair, only his armor was slightly bulkier, and in this case, more heavily damaged. Lacerations and burn marks layered over his unhealed body, however, he managed to stay upright and speak normally as if they didn't exist.

"Greetings again, Tride Aulair, I see you've finished your delivery task. So," He clapped once, then turned to face Krista and Malus directly. "how did it go?" He said, looking for feedback from both of the new Saintlies, but eyeing Krista in particular for some reason.

Krista didn't question the oddity of the Domain she now found herself in; she had seen enough to know that questioning anything she saw was fruitless. So she ignored the architecture and the landscape around her, instead focusing on the damage inflicted upon it. The claw marks gained most of her interest. They were so long and far apart she couldn't even imagine how enormous the creature that put them there was. She couldn't see any foot prints yet, so maybe they were made some other way.

As she walked she noticed that her steps had a lot of energy to them — her legs swung forwards a little bit more than they used to — and they came down to a rhythm that Krista couldn't get out of her head. It must have been because she hadn't walked any particularly long distance in so long — she had been flying a lot lately — that the way she walked changed. It just felt so natural suddenly.

Eventually they approached Staine, for whom the Saintification device was for, and stopped. Krista found herself standing as stiff as a board, with her feet together and her hands flat by her side. Yet she didn't know why. It was probably because she was in the presence of a high ranking General, and she needed to behave accordingly. Particularly when he asked her and Malus about the mission, and seemed to be waiting on her answer most of all. Krista was suddenly incredibly aware of the state of her heavily bloodied attire.

"Ve encountered and dealt viz ze enemy, and retrieved ze artefact. Von of our own vas injured and sent back, but ve managed to capture a traitor as vell."

As his head stopped spinning, Malus took time to inspect his new surroundings. He didn't know what to think of the destuction of the inner structures. What kind of creature would've been strong enough to cause them? Not even the might of a Pricolici or a Balaur could've made such marks. He decided not to bring it up, lest he trigger some sort of lame safety lecture from it's residents.

As they encountered Staine, Malus took much notice of the damage he'd taken previously. Malus felt that if anyone knew who or what made those marks he'd seen outside, he did. his thoughts were soon interrupted, however, as Krista spoke of what they had accomplished prior to this meeting. The room was then met with silence, as Malus realised that time had passed while he was pondering, and that it was his turn to speak. Krista's profound stance gave Malus the impression that Staine's rank is of high importance, so he'd have to respond accordingly...

    ...."Baah?" he bleated.

The General had Krista's phrase stuck in his head for a while, before Malus blurted out his... sheepish response.
A couple of the Winghunters laughed at him before Staine interupted their laughter.

"Injured and sent back? What do you mean, 'sent back', I thought the whole point of this mission was to prepare you for real combat." He looked at Aulair, faking a puzzled look.

"Um, my General, a Regnant cannon hit our sentry, Sycal, when we breached a load of fake asteroids. We didn't expect it until it was too late." Aulair explained.
Scoffing and shaking his head, the General turned to Krista.

" 'Didn't expect it'... that's an excuse. An excuse that cost your group a sentry. I'm not impressed, my Tride. I expect better management from someone with your title in the future."

"This won't happen again, my General. You know I don't repeat mistakes. That's why I'm your Tride." He asserted.

"...I fight the bloody devil himself and this is what I-... come on, Aulair... Wraith, I want you to do something for me. Come here."
He beckoned her with his finger, reaching into his cape.

Krista stepped forward wordlessly, not fearing the General but all too aware that he wasn't pleased with what she said, even if he directed his blame at Aulair.

The dried blood in her clothes restricted her movement slightly, reminding her yet again of its presence.

"I see you're using firearms instead of more... traditional weapons. While I can't command that you use something different, as much as I'd like to, what I can do is make the most out of your choice of weapon." He explained as he handed her two bright, thin rectangular prisms, resembling the green tubes that Krista received in the asteroid field.

"Here, strap these onto your guns and watch what happens."

"Thank you." Krista said humbly, receiving the bright blue pieces of what she assumed was more Regnant technology. Last time they had given her weapons a powerful upgrade. She could only imagine what would happen if the effect was to stack...

The prisms in her hand began shaking, and like before, she let them zoom onto her pistols, which she took off her hips. The undersides of the longer, primary barrels extruded another shorter barrel — with blue diodes — where the bonesaws were mounted. The bonesaws themselves were moved onto the underside of the new barrels, this time as detachable accessories on the rail of the barrel. In addition, they had been shortened again to take up less room.

Krista thought that the devices had done their work, but they still had more to do. The very topmost barrels of her pistols extruded two cylinders which morphed and shaped into short-range scopes, again mounted on the barrels' rails. What Krista was left with was two somewhat heavy multi-function pistols with three barrels each, bonesaw blades, and scopes.

Krista almost forgot that she was in the presence of a high ranking angel, and immediately replaced the pistols and stood at attention.
"Again, thank you, General." She said, this time with more rigid formality. "Might I ask, vat does zis new augmentation do?"

He picked up one of her guns, examining the new barrel, trigger and the scope before aiming it at a tower that survived the battle. Without a word or movement, the gun recoiled and the tower's side walls crumbled. While it didn't crumble completely, you could see the impact it made on the building.

"I think if you fire the other pistol slightly lower than I did, it should finish that ugly thing off. Try it yourself." He quickly turned his attention to Malus.

"You must be the Fanatic of the group. Interesting. You definitely look the part, with the whole Demon look you've got yourself. Hell, you've even got a whip and a big medallion straight out of a Greek myth. If you didn't have those wings, I'd probably mistake you for Hellspawn on the field." He laughed, then patted his back.

"Keep up the good work. I've got some guests to tend to, so why don't you guys take a quick social break, I'll give you a new task tomorrow, so get some rest. er, -Aulair, come with me for a second."

"Actually, guys, go meet up with Cosmac, I'll meet you there tomorrow. He should be right by that huge Seer's Library in Paradisia." And with that, Aulair left.

Sentain IC - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Sentain IC   Sentain IC - Page 3 EmptyMon Apr 07, 2014 4:12 pm

Krista took her pistol from Aulair, holstered it, and aimed her other one at the tower with both hands. The scope seemed to be adjusted perfectly to her preferences, since she could see straight down the barrel even at arm's length. She could see the blue diode glowing below the scope. When she pulled the trigger, the gun recoiled, but unlike when Aulair fired the gun, she saw something come out of the barrel. A dazzling, bright blue bullet darted out of the end of the barrel at the tower. Without any kind of collision, the bullet passed through the tower, causing it to collapse.

Krista looked at the gun in her hands as Aulair diverted his attention to Malus. The bullet didn't seem to make any impact with the tower; it seemed to fly right through it. Yet it still managed to dismantle something integral to the tower and cause it to fall apart.

"...I've got some guests to tend to," she heard Staine say, "so why don't you guys take a quick social break, I'll give you a new task tomorrow."
Krista snapped to attention and saluted — although her hand seemed to overestimate how high up her forehead was — before turning around and walking away, this time with normal strides. She didn't wait for Malus, or from anything else from Aulair. She had to get a break. After she had left the vicinity of the other angels, she jumped into the air, unfurled her wings and took off towards the Domain Gate she had come through. The air began rushing past her face again, stinging her eyes and robbing the breath from her mouth, so she had to bury her face into her elbow to protect herself from it. Here she noticed that the armband she wore proudly on her left arm was gone.

She stopped on a dime, turning around and casting her gaze behind her, hoping against hope that she would see it fluttering down to the ground. She felt a little cold inside from her fear of losing it. All she saw was the landscape stretching out in all directions, and the true damage that had been done to the city; her armband was nowhere in sight. She didn't even know how long it had been gone for.
"Verdammt!" she spat. She looked at her sleeve where the armband would normally be. It was soaked in blood like nearly all of her attire, meaning that it was gone even before she laid waste to the Regnant ship. If it was lost there, then there was no hope of finding it again.
Bloody hell! she thought in vexation, taking off again. Suddenly she found herself daydreaming about being confronted as to why she was missing such an important piece of her uniform.
Apologies, herr General, I seem to have lost my band in another universe while fighting monsters from hell! She would retort, knowing full well that she would never say that out loud, or that she would ever be put into such a confrontation.

On she flew, still rehearsing an argument that would never happen, until she reached the Domain Gate back to Paradisa. By the fourth time, she could hardly notice its forcefulness. She was so distracted, she didn't notice it at all. When she arrived at the vast, grand, monument to architecture that was Paradisa, she flew straight for the collection of villas she and some of the other angels lived in. The first thing she did once she arrived was bathe, have her clothes sent off to be cleaned and repaired, and finally go to bed.

She slept for several hours, only to awake in the early moments of dusk. She changed into something casual before heading out, even if it was still a white piece of some German uniform. Aulair said that they would meet Cosmac at the Seer's Library, so Krista decided that it would be worth seeing the library beforehand.

By the time she arrived, it was all but night time, and the library was almost empty, although even by its own unfathomable vastness it would still have seemed empty during the day. She wandered its halls and aisles, exploring what little portion of what must have been an immeasurably vast collection of literature that she could. Eventually, up several flights of stairs, and through some tight stone corridors, she came across a small, low-ceiling room with, of all things, a fireplace adorning one wall, bathing the room with orange warmth. But it was what was in front of the fireplace that struck Krista as odd, since it seemed to have been removed from somebody's living room. A wide, oval rug kept the cold stone floor at bay, and to one side of the fireplace, facing towards the centre of the room, was an old, high back armchair adorned with old knit blankets. The mantelpiece was decorated with a variety of old paperweights, and the walls beside it hosted several paintings of landscapes. A tall wooden staff rested against the wall.

The room was occupied, no less. An old man sat in the armchair — at least, he seemed that way; he wore a dark brown cloak with an orange trim and a hood that covered all but his hands and mouth, and he didn't have any wings — and sitting on the oval carpet in front of him and the fireplace, were a dozen angels. Only, they were children.

Krista didn't know what to think at the sight of them. She figured that the angels here had children themselves, and that children had obviously died on Earth, but it was still a confusing sight. They didn't notice her at the doorway, however, as all their attention was on the old man in the armchair, who in turn had all his attention on the children. He was talking to them, rather animatedly and with many expressive gestures, and it seemed he had them hung up on every word that came out of his mouth.

"...'Now where the devil is that devil of mine?' he pondered. Then with a bright flash and a puff of smoke, his devil arrived there at his side. 'I'm here, your Excellency,' went the devil. 'Where did you spring from?' asked the soldier. 'Not so much sprung as hopped, sir. You have my foot.'"
    The children giggled at that.
"The soldier thought, then he had an idea. 'Cure my son, and you can have it back.' 'Hmm...' went the devil. 'Yes, I saw you son was ill, let me have a look at him.'

"Now this devil had a special goblet, you see." The old man flourished his right hand, and out of his sleeve, it seemed, appeared a square glass goblet with pentagonal panels on all four sides, and rubies set in some of the others. He held the goblet up and looked at the children through it. "With it, you could see death himself." He handed the goblet to the nearest child for him to look at and pass around. He continued his story

"'Look in here, your Exellency.' Went the devil, holding up the goblet. The soldier looked through it, and saw a small man with a pale face and a dark hood. 'I see a small creature.' he said. 'That's death, Exellency.' went the devil. 'Where does he stand?' 'At my son's feet.' 'Ah, good,' said the devil, 'he will recover. 'It's when he comes to the head you must worry. Now, sprinkle some of the water from the glass on your child...'"

Krista found herself unable to leave the man and his story, and so leaned her back against the doorway, closed her eyes, and continued to listen. On and on the old man wove the story, making voices and gestures, and sometimes conjuring something from the story itself to show the children. He talked for what seemed like hours, but couldn't have been that long. The soldier used the glass to cure people all over the world, even his Tsar, and became rich from it. One day, he himself became gravely ill, and saw death at the head of his bed. Using a magical sack which, if commanded, any creature would forcibly enter, he caught death and held him prisoner. People everywhere became immortal, but they also became sad, waiting for the end. The soldier eventually released death, but he would not take him for he was scared, leaving the soldier to linger forever.

Even when Krista thought the story would end, it continued on. The soldier wandered the earth until he found the gates of hell, and demanded to be let in to end his immortality. The devils wouldn't let him in because they feared him, too. So he demanded two hundred useless souls and a map to heaven, and so brought them to heaven to be repented, he along with them. But the guard of the gates of heaven denied his entry, only allowing the souls to enter.

"...So as the souls slowly filed into heaven, the soldier gave the sack to one of them and told him 'Take this, friend, and once inside, call me into the sack.' But you see, there is no memory in heaven; souls forget. The soldier waited and waited, an inch from paradise, until after a long time, forgotten, he turned and walked slowly back to Earth. And for all I know, he wanders still."

He never said that the story was ended, but it seemed the children knew when it was. One by one the children stood up, while the old man knelt down on one knee, and gave him a hug, thanking him for the story. They all filed out of a door opposite where Krista stood, leaving her alone with the old man.

"An interesting tale." Krista noted. "A Russian story, I take it?"
"Very good." Said the man, acknowledging her presence for the first time. He stood up, and the staff leaning against the wall floated across into his hand. He certainly did not have any wings. "But then how many other countries had Tsars?"
Krista shrugged one shoulder and closed her eyes.
"But what countries had those kinds of uniforms?" The old man went on. "German, I take it? An interesting time period, and an interesting style too, might I add."
Krista folded her arms, covering where the armband would normally have gone, and looked down at the floor.
"And... missing something, it seems." Noted the old man. "You must be one of the new angels here, aren't you?"
"Vell, I don't know how fresh it means to be 'new,'" admitted Krista, "but I guess so."
"Ah. Well, has it been hard?"
Krista looked up. "Has vat been hard?"
"Adapting." Said the old man. "Not just to the new way of life but... recovering from your old one, too."
Krista shrugged reluctantly, looking at the floor again. "Zere are some things I am not so sure of any more... I have had some qvestions..."
"Dear girl," the man said affectionately, almost heartbroken, "what you are going through is no easy task for anyone, human or saint. Why don't you take a seat, and tell me your story. You must be so confused."

Krista was about to accept his offer, but wasn't impartial to sitting on the floor like the children had. She was about to voice this when a dark hole opened in the ceiling, and a second armchair dropped out of it with a loud THUNK, opposite the old man's. The hole closed before she could get a good look at it. The old man smiled warmly at her from under his hood, and sat in his own chair.
    "Please, take a seat."
A smile slowly crept onto Krista's face as she sat down in the other chair.
"Now, let's begin with your name, shall we?" Said the old man.
"My name is Krista." She said. "Who are you?"
"Oh, you can just call me Storyteller. It's what I do, it's what I am."

There, in front of the fireplace, Krista told The Storyteller everything she had gone through since dying on Earth, and some of what came before that. Her Saintification, her training, her first mission, and what little followed that. She did her best to describe what she was going through on a mental and spiritual level, although even that proved difficult; much about her former faith had been upended since she woke up in Parasida. Her former political standing was also something they discussed, on both a historical and moral standpoint, and why she was so upset about losing her armband. Everything she held most dear on Earth was either gone or wrong somehow. Eventually, when everything was said and done, she slowly came to tears, and despite her best efforts, couldn't stop.

"There, there." Assured The Storyteller, his chair gliding across the rug and stopping beside hers. She leaned onto his shoulder and cried into it. He put one arm across her shoulders and the other he placed on her head.
"You have been so strong to take all this in for so long, you know? That is so much to deal with and you still managed to fight through it. You have so much courage, Krista."
Her head remained buried into his shoulder while she was racked with sobs.
"Heaven isn't what you expected, no. But now that you know how distant it was from Earth, don't you feel better that they got some parts right? It exists, doesn't it? You're here in paradise, with wings on your back and a halo above your head. You're here in a wonderful world with more beauty than there has ever been on Earth. There is eternal life here, and eternal repentance. And the people you used to know are likely here too."

Krista seemed to relax at that point, and began to control her breathing again.

"You'll be fine, Krista. You just can't let yourself be hurt by what you didn't expect. There is so much that heaven can give, so just look for what it gives you, not what it takes away."
"Thank... you." Hiccuped Krista, sitting up straight again and wiping her eyes on her sleeve.
"It's alright." Assured The Storyteller. "Would you like me to escort you back to your home?"
"No thank you." She said, standing up. "You've done enough for me already." She took a deep breath and walked towards the door, The Storyteller following her.
"Before you go," he said, touching Krista's shoulder lightly. She turned around to face him, eyes still puffy and red.
"I'd like you to take this." He held up a rectangular package, not much bigger than a large book, but doubly as thick. "Just something I think you'll appreciate."
"Thank you." Krista said quietly, managing a small smile. She took the package from him; it was fairly heavy.
"Now you go get some rest, Krista. You'll need it for tomorrow, I gather."

With that, Krista began making her way back through the library, and The Storyteller closed the door behind her.

Sentain IC - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Sentain IC   Sentain IC - Page 3 EmptyMon Apr 14, 2014 1:54 pm

Malus didn't know what to think as he left the 4th Domain. First he was laughed at by the other angels, and then the highest ranking officer thought it was appropriate to pat his back like a domestic animal. He couldn't really blame them, though they didn't really have to rub it in so much.

Upon arriving in Paradisia, Malus flew to the designated angel refuge area, which was practically filled with houses, each being of of different design to accommodate the tastes of the resident. His house prominently stuck out from the rest, however. It was a fairly small brick flat, only consisting of about 2 rooms. The outside decor was nothing to really be proud of, but it did include a veranda around the front door that Malus built himself over the course of a slow week. The windows were almost permanently obscured by curtains, in an attempt to maximise privacy. The roof was thatched straw, which he'd also improved by painting over it with a strong resin he'd been provided with for armor repair (which he didn't really need anyway, since he didn't wear nearly as much protection as most saintlies did). Home repair was seemed to be one of his unknown talents.

He landed on the veranda, the wooden boards quietly squeaking underhoof, and inspected today's notices, provided on his own door by some of the other area residents using whatever writing material they had on them.

You'd think angels had a higher sense of decency:

Due to the ethnic variety of the other angels, Malus couldn't read most of what was left on his door every day or so. Not that it really mattered. It was all the same. he pulled the papers off their tacks while fumbling around for his key, unlocked the door and entered, making sure to lock the door behind him.

Although the exterior of his house held some form of structure, the interior was just a mess. Papers, bottles and straw were stawn everywhere, the concrete floor had probably never been swept since Malus moved in. In the main room, there was a cupboard, a low table supporting  various objects, a fireplace and a flimsy straw bed. This never really bothered Malus, he never really believed in the element of luxury. He lit the fireplace and threw today's papers for fuel. As the house began to warm up, he stripped himself of his armor, chucking it in the corner of the room. He took more care when relinquishing his whip, carefully placing it on a pillow on the table. He went into the next room, which simply consisted of a faucet and a few buckets, as well as some necessary washcloset facilities. He filled the buckets with water before turning them over himself, washing any filth he managed to pick up throughout the day down a drain in the middle of the floor. After cleaning himself, he grabbed a towel and began to dry himself while walking back to the main room. He decided to have a few drinks before he hit the sack, so he walked over to his cupboard to grab something to tide him over. Normally, a one would find it difficult to open something with a hand full of towel, but Malus had another unknown talent; he could stick to things with his tongue.

holding open the cupboard door, his tongue slowly extended out, and loosely wrapped around a few bottles of Honey Mead. He pulled his head back, removing the bottles from their shelf, and closed the door, allowing his tongue to lull out while holding tonight's beverages. Malus then chucked the towel back into the bathroom and relinquished the bottles, allowing his long tongue to retract back into his mouth. He only ever did this trick while no one was around, as he understood that most other angels would find his talent utterly revolting. Humans are offended by anything these days.

With mead in one hand, Malus grabbed a book on blacksmithing he kept on his table, leapt into bed, and perused it for a few hours while quickly using up the contents of the bottles. After about an hour, his drunkenness got the better of him and he passed out for the night, dropping the book on the floor next to him.

All lay quiet in Paradisia. The night's influence shut the city down until only the public buildings were lit and only Sentain angels remained on the streets. In the dead of night, the houses in the refuge area were dead quiet, and all the lights were off. All but one house belonging to one of Malus's neighbors; he was not asleep.

    MALUS PERSONAL TOUR 1: INFLUENCES
    -----------
    TOUR BEGINS
    -----
    SPECIAL RULES:

1: Only Malus has full control of his own actions, and is the only character who can post for the duration of this Tour.
2: Malus's Health is multiplied by 10 for the duration of the tour.
3: Malus has the following special abilities at his disposal for the duration of this tour:
3 Assassinations, 10 Leech Points, 3 Self Revivals

Malus lay drunk in his thatched bed, lounging in deep sleep. As per usual, he dreamt about roaming landscapes that he had never seen before. Oddly enough, they were always familiar; grayish-green grass was always present at least once in his dreamscapes, coupled with a bright blue sky that resembled Paradisia's. But the grass was alien to him, and yet, so familiar that he could swear he'd seen it every day. His calm dream turned to a darker scene involving a tavern. As dreams normally do, this transition was abrupt, and sudden, but he still lay numb and unconscious as his vision and hearing were the only things that plodded him though this sequence. Through the blur of the dream, he could make out a group of ruffy-looking thugs in the bartender's area. Not questioning anything, Malus numbly asked for a drink as if he knew that there were 5 or 6 bartenders that dressed like rubbish in this strange tavern. The thugs giggled to themselves and spat in his face, The strange tavern that he'd never been at before, where there were 5 or 6... in the middle of thought, he came to a realization. This wasn't real, this was one of his strange dreams! This is a dream, and he could do whatever he wanted now!

Now lucid and completely aware of the dream's surroundings, he had this urge to teach these thugs what happens when they spit at a customer...

    Battle 1 Begins:
    -----

Special Conditions: Malus must kill every thug in the tavern.

    -----
    Turn 1:
    -----

    Enemy's Turn:

The six bartender wannabes leap from the counter in front of Malus, entering poses that made them look like they were pirates. They took out their weapons and readied themselves for a fight while other thugs were watching from the sides. Soon they were all looking at the fight, ready to jump in when needed, but three bigger-looking thugs on the sidelines started playing fiddles, and it was easy to see that they were about to enjoy themselves tonight. Not that they were real to begin with, but the situation looked as if it were.

    Thug 1: (2/2)
    Thug 2: (2/2) [unprepared]
    Thug 3: (2/2) [unprepared]
    Thug 4: (2/2) [unprepared]
    Big Thug 1: (3/3) [unprepared]
    Big Thug 2: (3/3) [unprepared]

One of the thugs (Thug 1) tosses a glass bottle at Malus, hitting him square in the forehead. It didn't do much, in fact, the glass didn't even explode in his face like it really would've, but Malus could still feel it tingle a little.

Malus wasn't really bothered by the first blow, as much as it stung afterward. He'd taken much harder head knocks previously, mostly through his habit of headbutting things.
He turned his attention away from the first thug, and over to the two larger ones brandishing their weapons. Malus wasn't going to give this troop of hooligans any fair chances for their poor customer service. Malus readied himself for the incoming fight, and then began to back up.

"Ay, prieten, don't y'know......" Malus suddenly ran foreward towards one of the bigger thugs.

    "D'customer's always RIGHT!"

He suddenly lept foreward onto his hands and delivered a bone-crushing right kick to the thug, sending him flying towards the other larger one. The weight of the impacting thug sent them both crashing backwards into the far wall, knocking them both out cold.

The two big thugs toppled after landing on the wall, and the remaining thugs in the fight reacted nervously, and each one wanted the other to hit the goatman first. Laughter was heard from the thugs that were watching as the stone-throwing thug ran away and two of the braver ones decide to step up close to Malus. The first thug was aiming to punch Malus's face, but ended up nicking one of his horns, cracking his knuckle and not doing very much, but the second thug grabbed a small piece of wood and hit him in the chest.

    Thug 1 escapes.

The dreamscape was changing again; the fiddle music that was playing earlier distorted and went slightly off-tune, and the walls of the tavern seemed to expand outward until they vanished in darkness. Small animal pens appeared near the sitting thugs and the floor turned to a rough gravel. All in the meantime, Malus felt an uncomfortable tingle around his neck, and his legs seemed to go numb.

Malus suddenly found himself without the ability to move his legs. He didn't know what was causing this, or what would come of it. Is this feeling going to spread? Surely he couldn't fight while he was slowly turning stiff as a board.

    Board. Now that's an idea.

Taking inspiration from the thug's stick attack, Malus quickly flew up to the roof while he still had his wings, and grabbed one of the rafters. He flipped himself over to position his stiff legs on the ceiling, and then pushed the wooden plank right out of its iron supports, causing him to plummet. He manoeuvred his wings to position himself upright again, and began to spin wildly with the board still locked in his arms. He landed as if a giant wooden ceiling fan had suddenly fallen while on its highest setting, knocking the remaining thugs into the surrounding walls. Luckily, the gravel floor was dense enough to lessen the blow on Malus's spine then he landed, as the concrete certainly would've made for a rough landing.

With the barkeepers out of the way, Malus then turned his attention to the men playing the god-awful tunes on their stupid violins, his armed clamped around his newfound weapon. Sure, they could very much be armed, but he had the bigger stick in this situation.

    TURN 3:
    -----

The Fiddlers turned to one another and quickly took up their tools as weapons, they eyed their friends as they too joined the fight.

    Fiddle Thug 1: 3/3
    Fiddle Thug 2: 3/3
    Big Thug 3: 3/3
    Bigger Thug 1: 5/5

The fiddlers took up their instruments as if they were clubs and smashed them over Malus's head, leaving the wood splintered and broken on the impact, with some of the strings breaking loose, releasing the 'ping' sound of cut wire. No more music will be played tonight, it seems.

    Total damage: 2 + 2 = 4
    Malus: 24/30

The middle sized thug brandishes a small knife, and seems to want Malus to hit him.

Big Thug 3 readies a COUNTER. (4 damage)

The largest thug looked a little different from the rest. He looked more menacing, and above all, seemed like a real person despite the dream scenario. He seemed out of place with the comical pirate-like thugs, and wore only a simple garb that covered his loins, with an empty sword harness strapped around his chest. This thug proceeds to charge towards Malus before slamming his gut with his bare fist, slightly winding him.

    Total Damage: 3
    Malus: 21/30

    Enemy Status:

    Fiddle Thug 1: 3/3
    Fiddle Thug 2: 3/3
    Big Thug 3: 3/3 {COUNTERING for 4 damage}
    Bigger Thug 1: 5/5

The audience seemed to increase in size, and the darkness that enveloped the walls soon started to cover the roof, with the fog from the sides dispersed to reveal a mountain range, with a camping ground set up right beside the fighting. Something was off about this dream; this all seemed oddly familiar...  But that's when whispers started to emerge from the air around him. Otherworldly whispers tingled his ears. They spoke English, but were garbled and barely understandable. Things started to distort as the surroundings changed to this new camp setting, with tarp tents and gravel paths lining the fight area. The hostile audience stood up from their chairs and formed a ring, and the animals screamed from their cages. Roosters, pigs, sheep, there seemed to be a whole farm's worth of these things kept in small wood cages, but one larger cage was empty; a cage large enough to house a baby horse. Although there weren't many people in the ring, it now was only composed of thugs dressed like the biggest of the bunch, simple, loinclothed, dusty bandits that held swords in their hands. This small fistfight was starting to get a little violent.

Malus began to realise that the situation was beginning to get way out of hand at an alarming rate. Especally since the amount of clothing these guys were wearing was decreasing fast than he'd like.

Malus had thoughts of attacking the one waving the knife around, but something about that large cage stopped him in his tracks, even more so than his stiff legs. He really didn't know why that hideous thing was there, and he didn't want to find out what it's purpose was. Malus came to the conclusion that, if he was going to find a way out of this, he was going to have to stand his ground and observe. He raised his board in front of him, in hopes of deflecting any sudden attacks. He knew he couldn't hold them all off successfully, but he could maybe find a way out of this nightmare.

The Fiddlers dissapeared from the ring, as well as the non-loinclothed thug with the knife, and in their place came 3 more bandits.

Fiddle Thug 1, 2 and Big Thug 3 escape.

    Bigger Thug 2: 5/5
    Armed Thug 1: 4/4 [unprepared]
    Armed Thug 2: 4/4 [unprepared]

The two unarmed thugs proceed to wail on Malus, bashing his head and gut, while trying to grapple onto him. Malus was able to block some of the blows, but most ended up hitting him. The hits felt odd; one of the hits in particular felt more like a sword wound than a punch... Did he just get cut by a fist?

    Total Damage: 2, 2

    Malus:  19/30 0/2

The incessant whispers became louder, and Malus could almost tell what they were saying. Most of the whispers actually were just gibberish, or in a completely different language, but one whisper in particular stood out...

This whisper sounded suspiciously like Aulair's voice, only in a lower tone and wise-sounding. It constantly whispered the same thing over and over:

"Do you wish to know more?"

Over and over again, on and on, until it became the focal point of the nightmare. The voices were as equally vivid part of the sequence as the thugs by now. At this time, Malus's neck and feet were no longer numbed, but his legs were no longer the strong, hoofed goat legs he'd known up till now; they were exactly like the legs everyone else had.

Then, all of a sudden, time stopped and everything went black.

Suddenly, he could feel the pricking of the straw bed on his back. After laying there for a few moments, he felt wide awake, as if he needed to get up and do something before heading off to bed again. He had this nagging urge to get out of the bed and just walk, and in doing so, became dizzy and tired. His whip must've fell off of the table, for it wasn't there when he'd looked for it. A sharp pain rang through the side of his ribs; the realism of the nightmare had been so vivid that it felt like a wound should be there. Aimlessly, he walked through the house while it was pitch-black. Upon walking into his bathing room, he could feel his hoofs stick t- his hooves were missing? What happened to him? Mid-thought, he ignored the sticky fluid at his feet and turned his attention to a small orange light in the room where he kept his alcohol. Something- no, someone was there. As he stepped closer on his clumsy human feet, the light grew into a definite shape; it was still blurry, but it seemed to be forming the silhouette of an angel. A really tall, bulky angel, with some ugly wings, judging by the misshapen lumps that stuck up past its shoulders. However as the silhouette became clearer and solidified into a physical form, it became apparent that those lumps weren't wings at all; they were heads. Heads of a bull. In fact, most of the figure's body was of a bull. When the light faded, a three-headed minotaur stood in the middle of the room, with no halo or wings. This was obviously not an angel.

A concerned female voice came from the beast's left head.

"I see we have a visitor. Do I know you from somewhere? I don't recognize your face..."

The right head spouted a heavy, rasped voice, and seemed angry.

"I know you! You should still be floating aimlessly through space! Why are you here?"

The center head spoke. The voice sounded like the whispers he heard earlier in the nightmare; Aulair's voice.

"I don't think you know us just yet. Why don't you take a seat? I'm sure we all can learn something from this."

"You seem hurt. Are you bleeding? What did you do to yourself?"

"I'm not concerned about you, I'm angered about what you've done tonight. Have you no control over yourself?"

"I think our guest is confused. Allow me to explain the situation... You've done some terrible things, friend."

"I think he's hurt! There's blood all over his arms! Shouldn't you see a doctor?"

"He doesn't need to heal, he needs to clean himself up! His previous actions have brought their own consequences... as will the actions he's taken right now!"

"I must leave for now, but before we all go, I present you a question to ponder, a prediction to heed, and a request to obey.
"My question: Do you really know who you are?
"My prediction: You will awaken early, but head to work late.
"And my request: Will you please visit us again in two nights?
"That is all, my friend please obey my small request...
"It means a lot to us."

The Minotaur extended his arm and offered Malus the Amulet he found during the Rengant raid. It glowed slightly in his hand.

    Sentain IC - Page 3 Freakedoutmalus_zps2de9d5b4

Malus couldn't even begin to comprehend what he was looking at. Why was this Cerberean bull man/woman/whatever in his house? Why does each head sound so different? Is this encounter a leadup from the bar fight he just partook in? Is that one head is angry about? Malus couldn't think of anything else that it would be referring to (not that he think about much while being spoken to by 3 different personalities at once).

Suddenly, the middle head requested his cooperation, and held out the amulet. Was that thing behind the Minotaur's appearance? Does it bare any significance to this beast? Malus decided not to question it further while he stood in front of this thing with useless, cold feet.

"B..Baah..?" Malus muttered, his confused words immediately triggering the memory of being ridiculed by the General's recruits for stuttering. "BUh, Ba-yeah, yeah sure, whatever B-y'say, sir...?" He replied, hoping he got the pronoun correct as he hesitantly grabbed the amulet from the Taur's hand.

The Amulet glowed and burst open into a ball of light, blinding Malus before transporting him to what looked like a gravel desert. Some tents were situated around the grass and th- Wait, no, this was the dream sequence all over again, but there were no thugs circling him like they were before. The camp was dead empty.

That's when he heard voices again, but only the female and the scornful one talked.

"You see, this is what could have happened. Every thug, and every captive free from this place. Including yourself."

"If only there was some intervention. Yet none came to help a helpless, pitiful being such as yourself.

"But I'm sure you're not worried about what could've happened. I'm not either. I think we all want to know what did happen."

"What happened if you hadn't let yourself get caught, that is. I always knew you were pathetic. This whole situation could have been avoided if you listened to your head."

"But you must be wondering who the captives I mentioned were. I know who they are. Would you like to know?"

"I think the answer is right in front of his eyes. He could see for himself if he really thought about it. To his credit, he's not a complete idiot."

"I'm not here to argue with you, I'm here to show our guest something important, must you resist so much?"

"Just who do you think you're talking to? Are you talking to me? Because It sounds like you're talking to me!"

"Follow this trail, and you'll find a single man. 'Ask' him about yourself, and maybe he'll answer you. But now it's our turn to leave.

"Finally.  This stranger gives off some bad vibes to me. Good riddance."

    -----
    And then he was alone.

The trail led to a large tent, with a single candle light peeking through the fabric. Someone was in there, and Malus could hear him coughing. The cough was raspy, as if he was about to die.

Malus wasn't really sure if he wanted to obey the two voices arguing in his head. That sort of thing usually doesn't go down very well. He didn't want people to think himself more crazy than they already did. Still, he wasn't really in a place to reject.

He clambered up the trail, his flesh feet barely giving him any balance as was forced to scamper along on all fours. He didn't understand the point of giving him these useless legs while making him do all these things. What is the taur trying to prove? If he (or she? it was kinda hard to tell) was trying to point out his non-human abnormalty, he didn't really need to hear it from someone else.

As he reached the entrance to the tent, Malus began to speak. "..Ey, I hope I'm not in'erupting something ere, but I was told that 'parrently y'know who I am." He said as he began to lift the entrance flap away. "So, D'ya?"
